Stockport's Perfect Pub 2014

Once again we are searching for Stockport's Perfect Pub. We want to find the best local in the borough and we want you to help.

We have narrowed down the search to eight finalists suggested by Pure listeners. For the next four weeks we will be talking to the licensees and the locals in all of the pubs on Pure 107.8FM.

Voting closes at noon on the 27th June and any multiple voting will be disqualified.

Arden Arms, Millgate

			The Arden Arms Joe Quinn and Steve King have run the Arden Arms since November 1999. Their first big party at the pub was to celebrate the Millennium. This early 19th century coaching inn is a beautiful building on the edge of Stockport's historic Market Place. The team has won awards for their food and there is live music in the courtyard on Saturday nights.

Cocked Hat, Market Place

			The Cocked Hat Gemma Gordon and Richard Maw took charge of The Cocked Hat on Stockport's Market Place in September 2013 after a major refurbishment and name change. Together with Head Barmaid Sophie Davies (centre of picture) they have worked hard to turn the pub around. "Traditional pubs were the cornerstone of British markets, that is what we are aiming for here" said Richard.

Crown, Bredbury

			The Crown Peter and Olwen Davies wanted to make The Crown Inn, a home from home. There has been a complete redecoration to create a cosy atmosphere with comfy sofas. The beer garden has also been redesigned with a TV in the smoking area. Being a Freehouse there is a wide choice of drinks and Peter and Olwen can put their personalities on the Pub.

John Millington, Cheadle Hulme

			John Millington Amy & Matt Comerford run the John Millington in Cheadle Hulme with their team which includes Heather and Stewart (pictured on left & right). The pub has a reputation for serving great food. They take pride in their drinks too and won CAMRA Pub of the Month for Stockport May 2014. There is also live music every Friday.

March Hare, Cheadle Hulme

			March Hare Rachel Troop has managed the March Hare in Cheadle Hulme since early 2014 with her husband Ricky in charge of the kitchen. The pub is a Vintage Inn and serves quality food in a tradional pub setting. There is a lovely beer garden resting beside the pretty Micker Brook River. Inside the pub is a warm, timbered interior with open fireplaces.

Plough, Heaton Moor

			The Plough Ian Wardel runs The Plough in Heaton Moor with help from Assistant Manager Paul Yates, Bar Supervisor Nicola Worsley (pictured) and the rest of the team. Delicious freshly prepared pizza is made behind the bar and it's the ideal place to watch big sport events. The local Historical Society and Knitting Circle also meet at The Plough.

Three Bears, Hazel Grove

			The Three Bears Part of the Stockport based Almond Family Pub Group, the Three Bears had a major refurbishment extending the dinning area in 2011, a conservatory has also been added. Manager Jenny Ryder and her team serve up delicious cavery meals and a fine selection of wine and beers.

White Hart, Woodley

			White Hart Very much a family business Vincent and Christine Ranson and their daughter Sue are proud to run a traditional pub with a dinning room, the meals are freshly prepared on the premises. There is everything you would expect from a local including quiz nights, live bands, Pool & Darts Competitions, Karaoke and football shown live.
